D. Kirk Eddleman
D. Kirk Eddleman, MHA, is a founding partner and CEO.
Kirk also serves as the CEO of Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery, a large and rapidly expanding equine practice headquartered in Weatherford, TX. Since Kirk took charge in 2005, this practice has grown from a $4 Million annual gross, eight-doctor clinic to a premiere 29-doctor practice grossing more than $16 million annually and encompassing a world class reproduction center, a flagship emergency/referral hospital, two satellite practices, a reference laboratory, and racetrack practices in six states.
In addition, Kirk is the virtual CEO of Fairfield Equine Associates, a world class equine referral hospital located in Newtown, Connecticut. The practice serves some of the world’s finest sport and show horse, including the US Equestrian Team, Since Kirk and his team took the reins in 2012, the practice has experience significant growth in production and profitability.
While his primary focus is equine veterinary practices, Kirk routinely works practices of all sizes and focus. From multi-doctor show horse practices to one-doctor mixed animal and companion animal practices. In fact, several of the practices Kirk and Inova manage include a significant companion animal component.
Prior to joining ESMS, Kirk was the Assistant Hospital Administrator at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. In addition, he has years of veterinary technical experience in all aspects of medicine and surgery and was the head of veterinary technical personnel for the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. He also served as the chair of the Large Animal Infectious Diseases Committee and was a member of the Hospital’s Board of Directors.
Kirk speaks nationally and internationally on practice management topics including: customer service and the veterinary client experience, enhancing client loyalty, pricing strategies, systemization of practice processes, marketing, realities of practice ownership, compensation strategies, and many more.
Kirk holds a Bachelors in Science in Animal Health Management and Masters of Health Administration from Texas A&M University. He has authored multiple articles for veterinary technical and managerial publications and presented on the technical and business aspects of equine practice.
Ky Mortensen, JD, MBA
Ky is General Counsel and Director of Operations for Inova. In a word, Ky is a navigator. With a background in business and law, combined with nearly two decades of experience in the equine and veterinary industries he provides laser focused strategy and guidance to Inova clients. Ky works with Boards, leadership teams and practice stakeholders to help them achieve their business and lifestyle goals.
Running a business and being a veterinarian are two different specialties. The combination can be complex, rapidly changing, and for many, a source of stress. The leadership of your practice can be a highly effective team, or a quagmire of frustration as you strive to look to the future while grappling with daily issues. Ky’s talent lies in his ability to get leadership teams to face their underlying issues, keep their eye on the prize and develop a high level plan to help them navigate their business toward the success they’ve envisioned while enjoying the journey along the way.
His experience provides two enormous benefits for our clients: a thorough and detailed knowledge of the equine veterinary industry and authentic and powerful solutions to crafting a strategy for growth. Clients can expect and will receive a high level of individualized attention and timely responses to emerging issues.
Ky began his career in the equine industry working on a Kentucky Thoroughbred farm. After an internship with Breeders’ Cup, he spent five years with the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) as their Director of Industry Relations, handling sponsorship, organizing public policy positions and providing oversight to the AAEP Foundation.
He spent eight years as Director of Client Relations & Advancement for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital & Equine Health Studies Program with the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, LA. During this time he helped spearhead the emergency response for the rescue of hundreds of horses and companion animals during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which he chronicled in the book “Horses of the Storm”.

Ky holds a Bachelor of Science in Equine Science from Colorado State University, an MBA from the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University, and a law degree from Southern University Law Center. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
Tera Latham Nance
Tera is the Director of Accounting and Finance for Inova Partners. In her role, she serves as the financial leader for several large equine practices. By allowing her to manage the financial side of the practice, practice owners can focus on what they love most – practicing veterinary medicine.
Tera’s passion for making a difference in people’s lives combined with her accounting knowledge and experience provide her clients with peace of mind and better work-life balance. Tera obtained her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Tarleton State University in 2004. She started her accounting career in a small CPA firm in Stephenville, Texas where she did bookkeeping, financial reporting, and prepared individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
Tera also served as an auditor on the audit team, working with governmental clients and non-profit agencies. From there, she then joined the accounting team at FMC Technologies, a large oil and gas exploration manufacturer, as a cost accountant. While at FMC, Tera handled international accounting, and performed extensive costs, production, and financial analysis for the publically traded company.
After five years with FMC and becoming a mother, Tera sought a different accounting opportunity. In 2010, Tera found her home in the equine veterinary industry by taking a job with Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery as their staff accountant. Tera soon led the accounting team and assisted ESMS to reorganize the financial aspects of the practice.
Tera was instrumental in the company’s growth and helped with the division of the practice into several affiliated companies, including the Equine Practice Management Group and its merger Business Infusions; now known as Inova.
Dallas Toth, Software Implementation Manager
Dallas Toth manages continuing support and oversees Pre & Post integrations of HVMS
Dallas has a great knowledge of end user needs in the veterinarian industry derived from 6 years as an integrator working closely with staff onsite at clinics across North America and the UK ranging in size from 2 Veterinarians to 50+. With his experience he is a perfect fit to assist with input and testing of new development prior to its release.
While onsite during integration’s he provides training as well as setup and conversion from previous software’s to HVMS.
He works daily with tools such as SQL Server (2005+) and Crystal Reports to ensure client requests are addressed.
For support Dallas utilizes tools such as Helpdesk and LifeChat. These tools allow him to manage requests and proper delegation of tasks and requests.
Other key parts of Inova that Dallas is involved in are Trade Shows where he either attends the Booth for Demos of HVMS or special speaking engagements for support or sales. He is also available for one on one demos in person or Online.
Dallas graduated from Mount Royal College in 2009 with a degree in Project Management.
Scott Pickard President, Corporate Development & Software
Following completion of Emergency Medical Technician/Paramdedic training in 1991, Scott started his career in emergency medical services, working in both urban and rural emergency services roles. For 9 years, he developed and facilitated safety and emergency services programs in the private sector and at numerous post-secondary institutions.
Electing to change careers, Scott completed a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Information Systems in 2000. Following completion, he joined an early stage software company as a programmer and moved through the organization to become Chief Operating Officer. Scott took a lead role in commercializing the product to successful market entry on a national scale. Scott was also a founding member of a internet startup that won the international “Next Billion Dollar” competition for $1,000,000, sponsored by VC firm Draper Fischer Jurvetson in Silicon Valley. In addition to his leadership role in the software and services sector, Scott has worked in a managerial and business development capacity with global pharmaceutical companies.
In the fall of 2006, Scott took on the dual role of Chief Operating Officer for both the largest equine referral/surgical practice in Canada, Moore Equine Veterinary Services Ltd., and Business Infusions Inc. Scott was instrumental in the initial market entry strategy and execution of Business Infusions and as of July 2008, was appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer. Scott is a founding partner of Inova and leads the software and corporate development business unit.
Scott has also been a Board Director of a developmental lender, a real estate property management company and currently sits on the Board of a publicly traded software company. Scott is Chair of a CEO Round Table group of early stage technology companies/CEO’s and works with other technology companies in an advisory capacity.
Jason Kenyon, Director of Software
With close to 20 years of senior software development and management experience centered around point of sale, financial, inventory and document archiving solutions in a variety of vertical markets, Jason brings a very broad set of skills that match directly with the overall needs of Veterinary hospitals. Over the past 10 years , he has worked closely with experienced veterinarians and managers to develop, test and implement software solutions for large animal care hospitals and clinics. Jason possesses the rare ability to understand business needs and design technology solutions that enable improved business practices. Jason has a deep understanding of the veterinary technology landscape and has deployed software in some of the largest hospitals in the world.
Don Brooks, Director of Information Technology
Don currently serves as the Director of Information Technology for Inova. Don’s role is both to lead internally and provide guidance to Veterinary practices. Don has a unique mix of technology, accounting and management experience. He has a strong interest in database performance and works with both the implementation and software development teams during design, deployment and troubleshooting of Inova’s software products.
In June 2007 Don started with Business Infusions as an Implementation Specialist and spent a number of years visiting Veterinary practices and installing HVMS before eventually assuming the role as Operation Manager of Business Infusions in early 2011.
Don completed an Applied Business Administration (Accounting) Degree from Mount Royal College in 2005 and worked in various accounting roles including as a Financial Accountant before joining the organization.
